I came across these two dead dogs whilst I
was out cycling along a canal towpath in
Birmingham. The first animal I happened upon
In the Smethwick area of the city, it had clearly been
tied-up and thrown into the canal, weighted
down with blocks and drowned. The second, some weeks later, I
discovered in the Witton area. I reported my finds
and furthermore decided that it was important for me to
document this gruesome reality.
The two creatures bore all of the injuries of having been used,
illegally by people, as fighting dogs. Once surplus to requirements,
these living creatures are often, as evidenced in my photographs,
killed and discarded. Their wounds are extensive, as they are
even missing much skin. One can only imagine in horror what
might have gone on here.
I know the images are shocking, but I needed to document and share
these graphic scenes.
